Recondition of steel pistons crowns, cleaning, fault detection, pre-machining, stress relieving, machining, chrome plating, final grinding, dimension test, final quality controlMarine engine pistons reconditioning is made by a process of chroming, developed by the engineers at RETECH.
Heavy duty chrome layer consists of three sublayers with different hardness, corrosion and wear resistance.
Total thickness of the chrome plating is 0.5mm per every side of the ring groove.
Reconditioning process includes cleaning, fault detection, pre-machining (fatigue metal being removed entirely), automatic submerged built-up welding using high quality wires containing Cr&Mo, stress relieving, machining, chrome plating (or special heat treatment), final grinding, dimension test & final quality control.
